Paula Ascorra. professor at the School of Psychology at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, in Chile. In this podcast, I’ll be sharing some key findings from our research titled “Children’s Rights in Elite Schools: A Necessary Regulation.”

This topic matters because, although elite schools are often associated with privilege, our research shows that this privilege does not necessarily translate into the protection of children’s rights — especially regarding participation, school climate, and quality education.

In this brief special episode, Azucena Ochoa Cervantes — academic at Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro, founder of the School Coexistence Observatory, and president of the Latin American Network for School Coexistence — shares key insights from her participation in the IOSCVP webinar on school climate and violence prevention. She emphasizes the importance of understanding participation as a multidimensional concept — pedagogical, political, social, and community-based — and explains how service-learning can be a powerful tool to promote active citizenship across all educational levels.
